Let s all agree that it is extremely difficult to produce a memorable and sense making rhyme Travis unveiled a story that overall performs uite well on the rhyme the storytelling the moral and the illustration fronts In terms of the rhyme all the conversations make sense except for the everyone scene It would have also been helpful in terms of vocabulary building if each animal comes with a few funnysnappy adjectives In terms of the storytelling and illustration it does take a few scenes to understand what Miles and Spike do is not just what s normal for their hike but actually something off The illustration shows that the animals are angry but at one point it led me to incorrectly assume that those animals are carnivores lion andor large animals known for their bad temper eg moose and therefore they want to attack the hikers Maybe an alternative treatment could make it clear on the true reason behind the animals anger Where the story truly shines is its moral The story is about greed and its impact on the ecosystem In this world that increasing observe extreme weather conditions as a result of climate change a lesson about moderation and sharing the planet with every participant humans and animals alike is very timely
