READ & DOWNLOAD ✓ Fondly By Colin Winnette One Story The Two Sisters is woven from an array of beautifully haunting short stories It details the lives of two sisters both cast as wildly imaginative entities each bizarre than the next Winnette joyfully plays with life forms as he presents the sisters as 1 an olive at the bottom of a dirty martini; 2 Shel Silverstein; 3 transoceanic swimmers and so on The result is an entertaining skillful meditation on art love family the creat. Fondly is a book that features two novellas In One Story The Two Sisters and Gainesville Including two novellas in one collection has become popular and the decision is a great way to showcase an author s talents Although Winnette s novellas are uite different in tone the connection lies in the way he resets stories He creates hints of plot and deviates or starts all over again but then the reader is so wrapped up in narrative it s hard to noticeIn One Story The Two Sisters reads like a connection of short shorts The two sisters appear in each story and each short piece in a new storyline The short pieces have interesting titles like In One Story The Two Sisters Were Olympic Swimmers and In One Story The Two Sisters Had A Dozen Children Between Them and In One Story The Two Sisters Were Reasonably Well behaved Nuns While the circumstances change the setting remains mostly elusive The way the sisters dress and their simple ways of living suggest something older The sisters don t have a car they wear long dresses and get supplies biweekly Later the sisters fly on a plane and buy a computer all while wearing their long dresses and bonnets Timelessness is the word that comes to mind I thought the little sections of the sisters would drive me nuts because they would feel unfinished and chaotic but each one is so engaging that the current piece became my favorite There are few links between the story each one resets and yet adds a little like layering transparency sheets with pictures to get a new wild imageGainesville follows the births and deaths of characters in a bloodline for the most part At first one character would be established such as Sonny and all the other characters were named in relation to Sonny Sonny s brother Sonny s brother s girlfriend When Sonny dies we follow Sonny s brother who has a son named Jiminy After Sonny s brother dies a new section begins and it s as if things have reset This novella follows about a dozen generations each section including a birth and a death At first the story seems endless End where and why But it becomes clear that the point is this we all die New life is announced like it means nothing She and William had been growing apart for some time now She was pregnant She didn t want any help She hung up While this sounds depressing the small bits of life the reader is exposed to are interesting and full But of course people die Life moves very fast It s unbearable Sometimes I look back over the things I ve done the things I ve seen even in the past year and it seems one great big joke Like nothing lasts even a moment Just one thing then the next and it s all so fine and terrifying too Winnette balances meaningful messages with great storytelling which includes his tendency toward the fairy tale He creates whole worlds and invites readers in to experience them never letting readers remember the only way out of his world is to put the book down

READ & DOWNLOAD ✓ Fondly By Colin Winnette Ive impulse and what can and cannot be communicated in a single story or a single lifeThese two incredible novellas combine the obscene splendor of Hunter S Thompson with the beastly fantasy of The Brothers Grimm Winnette's spinning narratives will leave you white knuckled gasping laughing uncomfortably and voraciously and feeling a good bit alive than when you started Alissa Nutting author of TAMPA and UNCLEAN JOBS FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS. 2 novellas Difficult and rewardingWhen I saw Colin read some of this aloud in Chicago he was holding the book almost at arms length like he was genuinely scared of what might happen if it got too closeAnyone who is as perturbed by their creation as this deserves to be read
