I tend to add books from the trending list that sound interesting mostly without knowing much about them and then pick them up at a later date This series has a very high average rating So when the fourth book became available on Kindle Unlimited I immediately picked it up But I didn t make past the second chapter as the dialogue is shockingly bad Imagine you are driving in your car and listening to radio spots where bad actors tell you in stilted yet overly enthusiastic how great the latest laxative is The first two chapters feel like a seuence of radio spots The second chapter offers a plethora of such unnatural dialogue that also seems to have no relevance to the overall plot It all centers around his girlfriend who is an alcoholic In these short pages we find out that she basically sacrificed her marriage and children to her addiction but when Brat confronts her she immediately goes to rehab Six weeks later after the successful rehab Brat calls her ex husband This conversation goes from how dare you call me random stranger to I ll drive to the airport with you to pick up the wife I haven t seen in years in two pages At the airport the children introduce themselves and then their mother tells them that alcoholism is a hereditary disease and they ll probably alcoholics as well Next up is a dialogue between Brat and Doreen advertising this facility in detail If the chapter had ended in a call to action something like if you want to donate money to fight this terrible disease you can do so using the following account And don t forget to write to your congressman Admittedly maybe the book would have improved once the actual story started but the low uality didn t inspire me to continue
