I really wanted to love this book because I liked the writing style and the characters but the story itself just kind of left me wantingwanting excitement or conflict or action or something As I read I just kept waiting for something to happen to suck me in to make me excited to keep reading The story started off intriguing but once uinn solved the mystery of what happened to William it became a little too low key for me I was intrigued by the world uinn finds herself in and the people there but I wanted to happen Also I know this is the first book in a series but the story just ended I felt like it was unfinished It almost felt like this was the first half of a book rather than a complete book in and of itselfAll in all it s not a bad book but it s not outstanding either I am curious however to see what happens with uinn and her friends both old and new I don t know what Ms Puttroff has in store for the next book but since this one isn t all that long I wonder if putting the two together into a larger novel might not be a better move

An enjoyable fast flowing young adult novel with interesting characters intriguing situations and a fascinating fantasy world Breeana Puttroff s The Seeds of Discovery is a good opening novel to the author s intended trilogy The story has a good mix of completeness and mystery by its end leaving this reader both satisfied and ready for The heroine is suitably ordinary no super powers nor super wisdom or strength She makes very real mistakes in her actions and her relationships making her a pleasing real world anchor as the tale moves into a parallel universe Several young men attract her attention and she finds it plausibly hard to care about all of them at onceSome of the mysteries are too easily solved with super intelligent William and Nathaniel makes less than intelligent assumptions but the story carries readers easily through these minor irritations After all nobody s perfect There s a perfect villain of course who I m sure will reappear And there s a nice enveloping tale of the real world uinn her school family and friends and their small town with babysitting movies and the real world needs of real teensI enjoyed uinn s responses to her parallel life and found myself sufficiently intrigued to wonder how time runs there and here and whether there might be bridges between our worlds Seeds of Discovery isn t perfect but it s good enough to make me want to read Disclosure I received a free ecopy of this novel from Lightning Book Promotions in exchange for my honest review
