FREE DOWNLOAD Ü PRIMACLEANSEPLUSUK.CO.UK æ Marc Van De Mieroop REVIEW Æ A History of the Ancient Near East ca 3000 323 BC Aces the emergence and development of some of the greatest states and powers stunning cities and major empires including the Babylonian and Hittite kingdoms the Assyrian and Persian Empires and the conuests of Alexander the Great Van De Mieroop's revisions for the 2nd ed. An excellent book with the right amount of detail for a novice written in a way that doesn t overwhelm you with facts It talks about each great civilization that arose and died out in the ancient near east in a manner consistent with the timeline of events rather than trying to do a deep dive into each specific civilization This helps in building a coherent narrative that is easy to follow Highly recommended as an introductory read into the rich history of the ancient middle east I went about it the wrong way and read this book only after I had finished books about each specific civilizations of the near east In retrospect I should ve read this book first since that gives you the overall picture of how each piece of the puzzle fits together Once you paint the overall picture it becomes easier to understand the timelines and motivations of each civilization as compared to one another
